Old Business:

The 2002 Virginia SHRM State Leadership Conference was held on February 1, 2002 in Alexandria, Virginia. Lynn Lorenz, Cindy Loison, Amy Lourenco and Judy Perrault attended the conference.

The Chapter Activity Plan was submitted by Lynn Lorenz. Our submission reflects a tentative point total of 971 with the possibility to increase to 1,021 - Superior Merit Award status.

Mew Business:

The Chapter Discussion Group has been added to the website. Topics and schedules for 2002 and Q1 2003 are on the website.

Lynn reminded the Board that we are a 100% Chapter and applications to join the Dulles Chapter require membership in National SHRM. The membership form has been updated to include the SHRM membership number.

A proposal was made to partner with WTPF. Details and benefits of the partnership include:

  1. WTPF gives us member rates on events for our board members; we give them the same.
  2. We exchange mailing lists in order to send flyers throughout the year.
  3. Each of us may advertise up to four times in the other's newsletter.
  4. WTPF solicits our membership twice for participation in the salary survey and two times to purchase the survey at a partner discount of $1,200 for participants and $1,500 for non-participants -- a savings of $300. The survey has been expanded and will now include both technical/administrative positions and executive positions, which formerly were divided between two different surveys.
  5. WTPF provides a link from the WTPF survey page to our website and we reciprocate.
  6. Dulles SHRM receives identification as a partner on the survey cover, on the website, and on all advertising promoting the survey.

Lynn proposed a book-signing soiree with Mary Foley. Nancy volunteered to host the event at her house on Wednesday, April 3rd. More details to follow.

The meeting adjourned at 7:15 pm.
