Cindy reported that the Chapter Discussion Group topic for July 9th is “Employee Handbooks” facilitated by Misti Mukherjee, Attorney, Odin, Feldman & Pittleman, P.C. The meeting will be held at Verizon, 1800 Campus Commons Drive, Reston, VA.
Amy briefed the board on the feedback, comments and future HR topics of interest obtained from the May meeting form evaluations.
A motion was made to refrain from giving member information, including business card information, to speakers. For sponsors, we will encourage them to bring a basket or fishbowl to collect business cards from interested attendees with the purpose of follow-on contacts after the meeting and for a drawing, if desired. The Chapter needs to make a greater effort toward welcoming our sponsors and encouraging members to contact them during the networking period and after the meeting.
Diversity Report:
Deidre reported that the diversity section of the website was being updated. New additions to this section would include a Diversity Calendar and Diversity Resource Page as well as our diversity mission statement and links to numerous non-profit agencies serving the Northern Virginia area.
