Programs:
Cindy Loison updated the board on the status of speakers and sponsors for the 2003 program. She also provided an update on the Chapter Discussion Group schedule. The December Chapter Discussion Group meeting will be cancelled because the topic is very similar to the HR Career Development SIG meeting scheduled for December 4, 2002 at 7:30 a.m. at the Silver Diner in Reston.

Old Business:
The 2003 Dulles SHRM Board members will be announced at the November dinner meeting. Lynn Lorenz will induct the 2003 Board at the December 4, 2002 meeting.
The 2003 State Conference will be held October 15-17 in Northern Virginia at the Fairview Park Marriott. The Dulles Chapter’s representative on the steering committee is Cornelia Gamlem who will be overseeing registration and hospitality. Cornelia needs volunteers to chair and co-chair these functions as well as numerous other volunteers from our chapter to help out during the conference. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Cornelia at gamlem@erols.com.
The Board purchased a new LCD projector to be used at dinner meetings.
Seventeen hundred dollars was paid to Eileen Taylor for facilitating the Certification Course.
After extensive research, analysis and discussions with local area hotels, the Board elected to remain at the Washington Dulles Marriott Suites next year for the monthly meetings.
New Business:
The Transition Board Meeting and dinner buffet will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2002 at the Dulles Marriott Suites.
The Board approved two scholarships to be awarded to Henry Struse and Wisteria Krigger.
The Board discussed but did not approve a recommendation to allow unemployed members and guests to attend the monthly dinner meeting if they were unable to pay. The Board approved a recommendation to allow unemployed members and guests to attend the monthly meetings for the general announcements, introductions and speaker portion of the program. The Board agreed to respond to requests for delayed payment of 2003 membership fees on a case-by-case basis.
