Introductions:

New and returning board members introduced themselves to the group.

Plans/Ideas for 2004:

Cindy discussed ideas she had developed for meetings in 2004. One popular idea was metrics-type questions that meeting attendees would answer during their introduction. Kurt will tally the responses and provide a summary by the end of each meeting.

Old Business:

Member Survey. It was suggested that Dulles SHRM conduct a survey and determine topics of importance to members. Challenges faced and best sources of training were ideas earlier discussed as potential questions. Mary advised that she and Amy could work on this.

Shared Sponsorship. A suggestion that two companies could share sponsorship at meetings was not approved for several reasons. The Dulles SHRM sponsor fee is less than other chapters, and there is potential to have insufficient sponsorship at monthly meetings if sponsors double up. Also, introductions could take up too much time during meetings.

Mary Saily discussed invoicing sponsors. Past procedure was to invoice two weeks prior to the meeting. Programs will now invoice six weeks prior to the meeting with a payment due date of two weeks prior.

The group discussed bringing coworkers, colleagues, and associates to meetings. The current meeting location can accommodate 80 people.

We tabled discussion until January on ways to market the chapter to gain more members.

New Business:

Board Member job descriptions were distributed. Revisions should be sent to Nancy Streeter.

A suggestion was made that Holiday Party Planners should work on ideas for the 2004 Holiday Party. Nancy recommended that new planners work with others who have planned our holiday parties in the past.

The January meeting will be held at AOL. The future meeting location will be discussed at that time.
