What is the SHRM Foundation?

The SHRM Foundation was founded in 1966 as a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). It is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors from the HR profession, including academics, practitioners and representatives from SHRM. The Foundation funds research, publications and education to advance the HR profession and enhance the effectiveness of HR professionals. To support its important work, the SHRM Foundation conducts an annual fundraising campaign. All contributions to the Foundation are tax-deductible.

DULLES SHRM and the SHRM FOUNDATION

Every year Dulles SHRM contributes to the SHRM Foundation. Why? The Foundation does a great deal of research, provides education and publications to advance our profession and enhance our effectiveness as HR professionals. These are not funded by SHRM and donations are very important to their continued efforts and success. Some of the major initiatives are:

Research (SHRM Benefit Survey)

Publications (books published with the Foundation support, such as Making Mergers Work, Federal Wage & Hour Laws and Issues in Employee Leave)

Education (such as the HR Games for colleges)

Find an HR Master's Program (special presentations at the National Conference)

Apply For a Grant (various, including Workforce Readiness initiatives)

Apply for Scholarship (Academic and Professional Certification)

Enhance Your HR Knowledge (information on a variety of topics)

Two ways that the Dulles SHRM Chapter contributes to the SHRM Foundation are through our monthly 50/50 raffle and through our monthly Foundation article included in our newsletter to raise awareness of the Foundation’s work.

GIVE to the Foundation!

The SHRM Foundation needs funds to continue its research and scholarship programs.  Here are 4 ways that you can give:

We appreciate your support.  Thank you for investing in your profession and in projects that benefit YOU!

For more information on how to donate to the Foundation, contact Marlene Mouanga, Dulles SHRM Foundation Representative, at mmo@justinbradley.com or 703-448-8400.

YOUR FOUNDATION AT WORK
JULY: HR Student Scholarships

Each year, the SHRM Foundation provides $13,000 to support the development of future HR leaders through national student awards and scholarships. The Leonard R. Brice, SPHR, Undergraduate Leader Scholarship and the SHRM Foundation Graduate Student Leader Scholarship, presented each June, are designed to recognize and encourage the development of leadership skills in students preparing to enter the HR profession. The SHRM Foundation Student Scholarships, awarded in the fall, recognize outstanding academic achievement. In recognition of the important work of SHRM chapter advisors to the student membership program, the Foundation also sponsors the annual Advisor of the Year Award. For more information on Foundation sponsored awards & scholarships, visit www.shrm.org/foundation.
