Embry Rucker Shelter Donations Update

During the March dinner meeting, Dulles SHRM members donated $50 for the Embry Rucker Shelter. The cash contributions were used to purchase five $10 Giant Food gift certificates to be distributed to the homeless. Director Anita Bonic extends her sincere appreciation for your generosity.

Community Assistance

Dulles Chapter Diversity/Workforce Education Director Evelyn Kaiser presents our April community assistance organization, the Job Corps, represented by Field Coordinator Archie Whitehill. Job Corps is the nation’s largest and most comprehensive residential, education, and job training program for at-risk youth aged 16 through 24. Since its inauguration in 1964, Job Corps has provided more than 2 million disadvantaged young people with the integrated academic, vocational, and social skills training they need to gain independence and get quality, long-term jobs or further their education.

For more information visit www.jobcorps.org or contact Archie at awhitehill@appcouncil.com.

Reminders: Credit Cards and No-Show Policy

Several months ago the Dulles Chapter began accepting credit cards at monthly meetings, and many members and non-members have taken advantage of this new payment method. Please remember that we are using an established account by another organization, the Washington Breakfast Club (WBC), and your credit card statement will show this organization’s name rather than Dulles SHRM. Receipts showing Dulles SHRM are available at the registration table at each dinner meeting if you would like one.

If you have registered for a dinner meeting and find that you will be unable to attend, the Chapter requires a cancellation phone call or e-mail by 3:00 p.m. on the Monday before each dinner meeting. No shows will be billed.

"Fundamentals Of Compensation Program Design"
Part I: May 5, 2004
Part II: May 12, 2004

The job market is heating up! With the business climate improving, companies are turning their attention to ways to attract and retain critical skill and high-performing employees. Yesterday’s reward designs need to be re-tooled to fit the revitalized marketplace. WTPF’s “Compensation 101,” to be presented by Watson Wyatt Worldwide, will cover the basics - attuned to today’s increased sensitivity to governance and transparency.

Both beginners and experienced practitioners should attend Parts I and II. These sessions will provide guidance and tools that attendees will be able to implement immediately in their own companies. Sessions will be held at Watson Wyatt, 1717 H Street, N.W. Lunch will be served at both sessions. The cost for WTPF members is $185 for Parts I and II, or $105 for one part. For non-members, the cost is $250 for both parts, or $140 for one part.

For more information and to register online, visit www.wtpf.org/prof_dev_schedule.cfm. Registrations without payment will be invoiced and can be paid at the registration table. Pre-registration is required.
