Embry Rucker Shelter Donations Update

During the May dinner meeting, Dulles SHRM members donated $40 for the Embry Rucker Shelter. The cash contributions were used to purchase two $20 Giant Food gift certificates to be distributed to the homeless. Director Anita Bonic extends her sincere appreciation for your generosity.

Community Assistance

Dulles Chapter Diversity/Workforce Education Director Evelyn Kaiser presents our July community assistance organization, the Lake Anne “One Stop” SkillSource Center represented by Employment Specialist Jane Brill of the Fairfax County Government. With an average of 60 job seekers and visitors per day, the SkillSource Affiliate Center at the Lake Anne Human Services building is a “one-stop resource” for skills assessment, career training, job placement, personalized counseling, interview and resume preparation, and job search assistance. The SkillSource Center was created to serve customers from various employment backgrounds and with various needs including providing access to fax machines, computers, and the Internet and job postings.

Customers receive information about valuable employment and career information and about community resources available to them. SkillSource partners with agencies such as the Department of Rehabilitative Services, Service Source and Virginia Employment Commission as well as working closely with the local shelters and the public library.

For further information, you may reach Jane at (703) 787-4974 or by email at jane.brill@fairfaxcounty.gov.
